TBR Intervention #7

It's TBR Intervention Challenge time! How I love this meme, this moment when we get to organize our huge To Be Read piles and actually read those books we've been wanting to (or been supposed to) for the longest time! The challenge is hosted by April @ Books4Juliet, Dani @ Refracted Light and Ayanami @ Whatever You Can Still Betray, and it's hosted every Saturday, though you're free to join every two weeks if that's more convenient for you. As always, do join us! Here's the rules:

1. Post the book(s) you committed to read in your last TBR Intervention post and tell us something about it. Did you finish it? Did you enjoy it or not? Post the link to your review (if you have one).
2. Post a book that you want to read and already own. Pick something that has been sitting on your shelf for too long now (6 months or longer). Commit to read the book in the next couple of days or week.
3. Grab the TBR Intervention Button and post it on your blog sidebar so you will be constantly reminded of the challenge, making it easier for you to commit. This will also encourage other readers/bloggers/visitors to join the challenge.
4. Add the link to your post in the Linky below and make sure to visit the other blogs. Comment, encourage, and spread the love to our fellow readers.

And here's how I did this week:

  • Last week's TBR IC: Success!

I read, loved and nearly cried over Dearly Departed. You heard me being dubious about it at first, then slowly evolving into "I must read this", and now that I have... wow. No, really - this is not just a good book, it's an special book for a number of reasons. I'll post the review soon, but not yet: I need some time to fully digest my feelings if I want something coherent on the page!

Hunting the Five was a short and easy read. I didn't thrill me, but it was nice enough - you can see my review with the good and not so good points here.

  • This week TBR IC:

I'm going to pic up this title, which I've been waiting to read for a long time: it's back to classic epic fantasy, a genre I must return to regularly, and I'm quite looking forward to it: I know the author has put an exhorbitant amount of care in this title, and I have a feeling it'll be up to it. A bit worried because it's the first book in a long series, which means I'll have to wait a long time if I do fall in love with it, but oh well!

Because the year is almost over and I want to read as many book from my TRB as possible - so that I can start from scratch (or as close to it as possible) in 2012- I'm going to add a second book to the challenge: again, it's a novella. It's Vengeance. Will I get to love the character I ended up despising? How will it turn out? I can't wait!

  4. I really need to read Dearly Departed! I heard so much goodness about it. I'm thrilled now that you're one of those people who enjoyed and loved this book. I NEED TO READ IT. I hope I can get a copy soon, and I hope too, that I'd be able to catch up with my books so I can read this. I'm so glad that you finished your book for this week's TBR... I haven't read a single book during our vacation, much worse, I caught a flu. Anyway, sorry for too much blabbing hehe. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! =) Happy New Year!

  5. Hi everyone!

Yes, I'm super late replying this week. Christmas is still throwing me off balance...

@mommy0306: I didn't like Dearly, Departed... I loved it! :) Watch out for the review, it'll be coming up soon!

@April: Ouchie, I'm sorry to hear about your flu! I hope it's better now... that's bad luck! I hope you are all better now, and that New Year will be better than Christmas in that regard. And don't worry about the babbling! I love it! But yes, you do need to get and read Dearly Dearted. It's quite a special book!
