TBR Intervention #6

Is it that time already? Why, yes, it is! How the week flew by! (and how little precious useful things I managed to get done... Alas, such is the life of a procrastinator). Anyway, it's saturday so...
It's TBR Intervention Challenge time! That moment when we get to organize our huge To Be Read piles and actually read those books we've been wanting to (or been supposed to) for the longest time! The challenge is hosted by April @ Books4Juliet, Dani @ Refracted Light and Ayanami @ Whatever You Can Still Betray, and it's hosted every Saturday, though you're free to join every two weeks if that's more convenient for you. As always, do join us! Here's the rules:

1. Post the book(s) you committed to read in your last TBR Intervention post and tell us something about it. Did you finish it? Did you enjoy it or not? Post the link to your review (if you have one).
2. Post a book that you want to read and already own. Pick something that has been sitting on your shelf for too long now (6 months or longer). Commit to read the book in the next couple of days or week.
3. Grab the TBR Intervention Button and post it on your blog sidebar so you will be constantly reminded of the challenge, making it easier for you to commit. This will also encourage other readers/bloggers/visitors to join the challenge.
4. Add the link to your post in the Linky below and make sure to visit the other blogs. Comment, encourage, and spread the love to our fellow readers.

And here's how I did this week:

  • Last week's TBR IC: Success!

Wow, I didn't see this coming, but I finished both my books and got a (small) head start on a third! Last week, I picked A Prayer for Dead Kings and other tales, which is an anthology of epic fantasy. Overall, I enjoyed it, but you can see my review here - yes, once again, I managed to review and update on time! I'm on such a roll!

The other title I wanted to read this week was Damian's Oracle. It had an interesting premise, and it turned out that I loved the style! My review will be up later this week, when the scheduled tour stop comes around, but if I had to sum it up in one sentence.... Think Black Dagger Brotherhood with less explicit scenes but equal charm. I'm so going to check out the rest of this series!

  • This week TBR IC:

So... it's Christmas. And I got my Secret Santa present! More info on that tomorrow, in a special blog post, but this time I'm going to pick a book that's been on my wishlist for a loooong while, even if it just landed in my greedy little hands: Dearly, Departed! Yay!

This week is going to be busy, busy, but still, I think I'm going to add a novella I got for review called "Hunting the Five", which falls in the supernatural genre, involves Angels and infernos, holds a promise of action and mystery and overall looks really good.

That's it. What about your own reading week? How did it turn out? What do you plan for the next one?

  3. I think I really need to get my hands on Dearly Departed. I heard so many good things about it. It's on my TBR pile but haven't picked it yet. Hmm..

And wow! You finished two books and started a third one! I hope I can read like that... And Blackdagger Brotherhood sounds like a very good read... Some of my friends really enjoyed the series.

good luck with your next book! I want to see what you think about Dearly Departed :)

  4. Congrats on finishing both books.

Your week was way more productive than mine. I started Dearly Departed but didn't get very far. Not because it wasn't already interesting but it has been a busy week. I hope to finish Dearly departed and start My Soul to Keep.

  5. Gah, kinda envious that you're in a roll. Me? Serial procrastinator.

I did well in my exams. Thank God. Btw, I haven't asked you about YOUR Nihongo exam earlier this month. How was it?

I hope you enjoy your books for this week's TBR! I should really check our Dearly Departed.

  6. Thanks everyone for dropping by and encouraging me!

Updates: Dearly, Departed is ROCKING! I love it so much! I hope the review will be up soon-ish (not sure if within the week, but not too long later).

And, Ayanami... My exam was okay. Much too long - I would have loved to have more time to ponder the questions, but oh well. The results will be along in February, so I'm holding on to hope!
