Banned Books Week Giveaway Hop

You know what banned books are, right? We all remember the stories about hundreds of books piled high and burning brightly into the night because someone important at the time thought they were dangerous, corrupting things.

But, did you know that books still get banned?

I didn’t. I mean, we’re supposed to be free to express ourselves. And honestly, with reality the way it’s going, how can fiction stir up a scandal?!? Half the time, there are worse things to see just turning on the news.

However, as I found out, the sad truth is that people still fear the written word. Not only openly political texts, which I could understand – though never approve – but titles like...

Twilight. Harry Potter. House of Night.

Yep. I didn’t know I actually read banned or challenged books, either. The Twilight presenting sexual dangers almost accusation killed me, too. You can read more about it here.

What can we do to help “banned books” and to avoid folks from challenging more titles? No idea. But I think this giveaway hop is a first step.

Yeah, yeah, here we come: to the important part. What am I giving away?

Well, since all of you probably have the collections I mentioned above... How do Fallen Angels sound? What better candidate for banning than a book about demons, the seven deadly sins and love?

I’m offering the newest title in this awesome series by J.R. Ward, Envy, but if you’ve not the previous titles you can INSTEAD request book 1, Covet, OR book 2, Crave.

So! Small print issues now. How to win your copy?

Easy as pie: fill in the form below. Mandatory entry is following Stories of my Life via GFC. You can get an extra entry by following my twitter account, and yet another extra entry if you share the giveaway in any way, shape, or form.

Giveaway is international, as long as The Book Depository ships to you.

I will contact the winner for confirmation, and he’ll have 48 hours to reply by mail, stating a valid mailing address for me to place the order. Once the order is placed, I can’t be held responsible for the state the books arrive in .

If some issue arises and The Book Depository doesn’t have the title in question available by the time the hop is over (they do have them now, I just checked) we will have to figure something else.

The winner is the winner. If he waives his prize, then I’ll draw another winner entry, also via Random.org

Thanks for your attention! Now... onwards to fill the form! Good luck, everyone!

Giveaway is over! Thanks for your interest! Best of lucks while I got power up Random.org!

  3. Hello, and thanks for participating! I'm glad you liked it :)

Now, because this is a fairly common issue, I thought I'd say that, yeah, GFC does tend to act up from time to time. Still, if you want to enter any giveaway but the pesky little thing refuses to appear... you can still follow!

Up in navigation bar, right besides the blogger search box, there's a link saying "follow". Clicking will allow your GFC to connect, even if the gadget does not show up.

I hope that was useful, and thanks for bringing it to my attention, Zoey!

    Enjoy the hop, everyone!

  6. You're most welcome! I was quite shocked when I read up on banned books, so I think this idea is great :)

@Adriana: Yep, BDB is great. I'm kind worried lately, though - Thor's book is next, and I have no idea who he's going to end up with! Any thoughts?
